Office Space, a Mike Judge film is a 1999 comedy film released under 20th Century Fox banner. It satirizes work life in a typical 1990s software company, focusing on a handful of individuals who are fed up with their jobs. The film's sympathetic portrayal of ordinary IT workers garnered it a cult following among those in that profession which is soon to be my line too, but the film also addresses themes familiar to office workers and white collar employees in general.
I must say if u r CSE-It student or soon to be a IT professional,u must watch this movie. It simply tells u the story of three guys Peter(Ron Livingston),Samir and Michael who r the avrage IT guys and some big software firm called Initech. And u really fall for their naivety. And their little fat mumbling Milton with whom u begin to sympathize more than ur relative.the "Munday" syndrome and "what shall u do if u get a million dollars" and the plight of a IT pro just make a connection with the viewer. It may seem that we just have to sit through a day in our cubicle in AC staring at our computers...its hell.U r not better than the machine on which u work..atleast ur computer dosen't have to answer dozen of bosses for some silly mistake. And their a con plan too.
The film features and awesome rap soundtrack that the studio finds incongruous but it works wonders."Its great to be a gangsta" is so correct to a context.
The film also features Joanna, the love interest of Peter played by Anniston who herself is pissed with her job as a petty waitress and a nagging boss. Its the characterization and stellar performances which make this movie a cult classic comedy.Their's nothing slapstick..the jokes will make u laugh if u really connect to them. The film is was ranked 5th in the Entertainment weekly "25 years 25 best laughs".The film wasn't a box-office hit coz of bad promotion but holds a cult classic status and was a enormous hit in terms oh home rentals and video rights.Mike judge had pulled a of a wonder.
Ans kudos to root for playing Milton and Gary Cole for playing Lumbergh.."hmmm yeah"""
Though the film looses the pace after first 40 minutes but still is an awesome watch.
And how can we forget the "fax machine clean" sequence...wait i need to care of something too..cya!!
